November 30, 2005—Torrance, California USA –StopTech LLC followed up the 2004 SPEED World Challenge Touring Car Championship with another successful competition season in 2005, supporting top teams in professional U.S. road racing with the same Balanced Brake Systems® it sells for privately-owned street and track day cars. In 2005, StopTech-equipped cars in SPEED World Challenge and Grand-Am Cup competition amassed 15 pole positions, 12 wins, 28 podiums and 75 top-ten finishes. The staff of StopTech wishes to congratulate each of these competitors on their outstanding performances.

SPEED World Challenge Touring Car

Most front-running teams in the SPEED World Challenge Touring Car field chose StopTech brakes, including Tri-Point Engineering, Turner Motorsport and Bimmerworld, claiming six poles, four wins and 11 podiums. Championship runner-up Randy Pobst qualified on the pole four times and earned two victories in his No. 73 Tri-Point Engineering Mazda6: “For me, the feel of these brakes are the most important thing. They are so consistent and I get zero fade, in fact the pedal barely changes throughout an entire race.” Teammate and first-race pole-sitter Jeff Altenburg said of his No. 72 Mazda6, “I have the power to brake later and harder into the turns, sometimes by as much as 50-100 feet, and [when] I’m seeing the guy in front braking – I wait on it and slide right by.”

Turner Motorsport’s Bill Auberlen achieved one pole, two victories and one second-place finish in only three race weekends with the No.1 Turner Motorsport/H&R Springs BMW 325i. The Bimmerworld team ran consistently in its fleet of BMW 325is, with drivers Matt Richmond, Seth Thomas and James Clay all finishing every race and collecting 21 top-ten finishes between them.

SPEED World Challenge GT

In SPEED World Challenge GT competition, StopTech earned two poles, two wins, four podiums and six top tens, all with its six-piston Balanced Brake Upgrades® on board Lou Gigliotti’s No. 28 LG Pro Long Tube Header Chevrolet Corvette C6. Tri-Point Engineering’s third driver, Dino Crescentini, strapped into the driver’s seat of the No. 28 Corvette to earn its second victory (for back-to-back wins) at Portland.

Grand-Am Cup Grand Sport

Partnering with Turner Motorsport, StopTech finished runner-up in the Grand-Am Cup Grand Sport championship. Drivers Bill Auberlen and Justin Marks qualified on the pole five times, then put together five wins, one second-place and two more top-ten finishes in the No. 96 Baker Sox/Turner Motorsport BMW M3 to lead the GS championship going into the final weekend at Viriginia International Raceway. Unfortunately, on-track debris damaged the engine’s oiling system during qualifying, the resulting engine failure forcing retirement of the car and a DNS for the BMW.

Turner’s grip on the top step of the podium was interrupted earlier in the year at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama by the StopTech-equipped No. 13 Unitech Racing Nissan 350Z, driven by Blake Rosser and David Murray.

Unitech Racing drivers Terry Borcheller and Mike Cronin, Jr. also claimed a pole at the California 200 in Fontana, California, and Power Racing Team No. 7 BMW M3 drivers Mike Keravich III and Owen Trinkler headed up the front row at VIR, making it seven poles out of 11 Grand-Am Cup Grand Sport races for StopTech Balanced Brake Systems®-equipped cars.
