August 21, 2007—On Sunday August 19th, for the second time in three seasons at the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivieres, Turner Motorsport put its No. 96 M3 on top of the podium, this time piloted by sports car veteran Bill Auberlen and co-driver Chris Gleason. Auberlen took the lead with 15 minutes remaining, and never relinquished it during a protracted ten lap battle to the finish.

Brakes Made the Difference

As anticipated, brakes played a critical role in the overall outcome, as Trois-Rivieres is a notoriously demanding track on these components. The StopTech brakes consistently held off the onslaught of the TRG Lally/Ballou Porsche 997. Auberlen crossed the finish line victorious, a scant quarter of a second ahead of the TRG Porsche, thereby securing the second victory, fifth podium, and eighth top-ten for Turner Motorsport in the 2007 season.

In a post-race interview, Ballou said of his Porsche, "The car ran incredibly strong, but the brakes were a big issue." Auberlen had a different experience in the cockpit of his StopTech-equipped M3 however. “We thought this track was going to be a brake problem for us, but the Turner Motorsport team did a great job setting up, and we didn't have a problem all day," he said. Team principal Will Turner reiterated Auberlen’s comments, “Three Rivers is by far the toughest track on brakes that we race at…our Stoptechs were so good...we were able to push 100 percent right from the beginning –it was a clear advantage!”

StopTech Balanced Brake Systems were also used by the tenth-place duo of Don Salama and Will Turner in the No. 97 Turner Motorsport M3.

Grand-AM makes its way to Miller Motorsports Park in Utah on Friday, September 14, for the penultimate race of the season. The Miller race will air on Speed Channel on September 23rd at 3pm EST.
