StopTech Helps Tri-Point Mazda Secure first Speed World Challenge Manufacturer and Driver Titles

For: Immediate Release     Date: Oct 21, 2007    Contact: Jeff Ritter

Jeff Altenburg locked down his first Speed World Challenge Touring Car driver’s title at Laguna Seca on 10/21, eclipsing his teammate and 2007 WCGT Champion Randy Pobst.  The win also put an exclamation point on Mazda’s first Speed World Challenge manufacturer championship, which was secured in the prior round at Road Atlanta.  The season culminated in dramatic fashion, with Altenburg suffering a flat tire on the opening lap, forcing him to claw his way back through the field to finish 4th, from the 18th position.

After the smoke cleared, Jeff Altenburg was interviewed about the role of his brakes throughout the championship season.  Jeff responded as follows, “Stop Tech Brakes were a big part of my World Challenge Touring Car Championship. Other than the gas pedal, the brake pedal is what I use the most! Stop Tech Brakes are without a doubt, the best brake package I have ever raced with. When people think of racing brakes, they picture a car diving down into the turn making a late braking pass on a competitor. I've done that plenty of times and I always know that I'm going to not only out-brake my competition, but smoothly transition off of the brakes and into the turn. Stop Tech brakes are always user friendly and hugely effective while doing battle on the edge.”

It was a great year for StopTech in World Challenge Touring Car, with our standard off-the- shelf production brake systems tallying 5 wins, 11 podiums, and 24 top ten finishes.  Jeff Altenburg won the driver’s title.  Randy Pobst finished second in the driver’s championship, and Tri-Point Mazda secured the Manufacturers’ Title.  StopTech’s CEO, Dino Crescentini, also achieved two top-ten finishes, including a 5th at Laguna Seca.

StopTech would like to thank the Tri-Point team for their support, and for proving once again what a properly engineered street brake system can achieve when pushed to the limits.
