E90 325, 328, 330 Front- and Rear-Axle Upgrades

StopTech’s broad range of products for BMW’s has expanded even further with a number of new Balanced Brake Upgrades for the E90 and E92 3-Series models.  Mirroring the basic specs of our popular BMW 335i brake upgrade, StopTech now offers four wheel kits for all of the latest generation 3-Series vehicles.  These kits feature ST-60 six piston calipers and 355x32mm (14.0 x 1.26”.) AeroRotors for the front axle, while the rear axle upgrades include ST-40 four piston calipers and a lighter weight 345x28mm (13.6 x 1.1”.) AeroRotor to minimize unsprung, rotating mass. All systems include calipers, rotors, street performance brake pads, caliper adapter brackets, DOT compliant stainless steel brake lines and all hardware required for a complete installation.  These systems require the use of 18” wheels or larger.

Most of StopTech’s competitors use a ‘one size fits all’ approach to application design.  In many cases, they have one part number to cover a range of similar vehicles.  At StopTech, similar is not good enough.  Changes to the factory brake systems on the various 3-Series models mandate unique solutions for each platform.  Every StopTech Balanced Brake Upgrade system is engineered to directly replace the stock brake system.  By providing the correct torque output at the axle when used with the vehicle’s original master cylinder no additional proportioning adjustment is required. This provides the best pedal feel and shortest possible stopping distances, as well as maintaining the proper function of ABS and other vehicle dynamics control systems.

Race-Proven Technology

StopTech Balanced Brake Upgrades have supported unparalleled achievements in professional road racing with the BMW 3 Series. Turner Motorsport won three races and the Grand-Am Cup Grand Sport Championship in 2006, after also winning five of eleven races in the 2005 season.  Turner Motorsport also won the last three races of the 2007 Grand-Am Cup Koni Challenge season using StopTech brakes in the GS class, and also clinched the ST class championship using StopTech products.  Will Turner commented on the final victory of ‘07, “We race the 6 hour race FULL TILT, and where other teams needed to stop for pad changes, we didn’t!”

StopTech calipers have special attention paid to brake pad retention for reduced NVH and the quickest reaction. All StopTech calipers include bellows-style dust boots to protect against debris and corrosion. They are manufactured with processes designed to maximize material density and strength. StopTech brackets mount the caliper with close tolerance, concentrically-ground studs, rather than bolts, maximizing the rigidity of the caliper-to-upright assembly.

StopTech’s patented, directional AeroRotor offers up to 80 percent greater induced cooling airflow than original equipment rotors. This reduces maximum and average operating temperatures, improving pad and rotor life. StopTech’s AeroRotors are manufactured from a proprietary iron alloy that has demonstrated up to twice the crack resistance of a leading competitor’s rotors. The AeroRotor’s two-piece, floating design with directional hats resists coning at high temperatures, eliminating radial pad taper. StopTech hats are machined from specially heat-treated aluminum alloy billet, offering the maximum in strength and corrosion resistance.

All finish machining, assembly and testing of calipers is performed at StopTech’s facility in California. The same location is used for machining caliper brackets and AeroHats for the two-piece AeroRotors, as well as assembly and testing of StopTech’s stainless steel brake lines. Every finished caliper is tested to 2500 PSI, every stainless steel brake line to 4500 PSI.
