For: Immediate Release     Date: October 9, 2007    Contact: Jeff Ritter

Audi has released a string of S4 variants over the last few years, but the classic B5 S4 has not been forgotten as one of the vehicles that put StopTech on the map.  Many of our existing B5 S4 customers told us they wanted greater rear heat capacity, superior cooling, less weight, more pad options for the street and track, and the shortest possible stopping distances.  In response, StopTech is proud to introduce the ultimate rear brake upgrade for the platform, featuring:

    • ST-22 two-piston, lightweight (4.4 lbs. unloaded), forged calipers with pistons sized specifically for the S4 application
    • Standard D961 pad shape (same as rear STI, Evo, 350Z Track), so wide range of friction options available
    • ST-10 one-piston billet parking brake calipers
    • StopTech’s patented 328x28mm, fully floating, two-piece AeroRotor®, with lightweight aluminum hat
    • 7075 Alcoa Aluminum caliper adapter brackets
    • DOT-compliant stainless steel brake lines
    • Street performance brake pads for the day-to-day commute
    • All hardware and instructions required for a complete installation

    Proven Technology

The ST-22 has been rigorously tested for three seasons in punishing SPEED World Challenge Touring class competition, and contributed directly to race victories in ’05, ’06, and ‘07 on StopTech equipped racecars.  Tri-Point Mazda is currently running 1st and 2nd in the series championship for 2007 on ST-22 calipers.

Direct Bolt-on for Existing StopTech Customers

StopTech’s new rear system is a direct bolt-on for existing B5 S4 customers with a StopTech front 355mm or 332mm kit, including both ST-40 and ST-60 variants.OE pads.

    Quality Manufacturing

StopTech's ST-22 caliper is a fully forged, high-density caliper body without porosity. StopTech rotor hats are machined from specially heat-treated aluminum alloy billet, offering the maximum in strength and corrosion resistance, for customers using their Quattro system to the fullest in inclement weather.  StopTech brackets mount the caliper with close-tolerance, concentrically-ground studs, rather than bolts, maximizing the rigidity of the caliper-to-upright assembly.

All finish machining, assembly and testing of calipers is performed at StopTech’s facility in California. The same location is used for machining caliper brackets and AeroHats for the two-piece AeroRotors, as well as assembly and testing of StopTech’s stainless steel brake lines. Every finished caliper is tested to 2500 PSI, every stainless steel brake line to 4500 PSI.
