StopTech AeroRotors® Go the Full 24 Hours at 2005 Daytona Rolex 24

For: Immediate Release     Date: March 17, 2005    Contact: Robert Lee

MArch 17, 2005—Torrance, Calif—At the prestigious Rolex 24 at Daytona, the Doran Racing team, changed many things, including drivers, tires and brake pads throughout the race; but one thing that they did not change was the StopTech front and rear Aerorotors®.

Electrical and transmission gremlins robbed the team of podium finishes with the Doran Racing DORAN JE4 Lexus #77 finishing fifth and the Doran Labonte Racing DORAN JE4 Pontiac #44 finishing ninth. Both cars ran in the top positions during the race, logging a second place position at one time. “StopTech rotors performed well during the race and gave us an advantage by having one set go the full 24 hours,” stated Kevin Doran Team owner. Doran Runs StopTech AeroRotors® on the front and rear of the Doran Daytona prototypes with StopTech Aerohats®.

The patented AeroRotors® have proven themselves time and time again in race series across the country both in sprint and endurance races. In the 2001 Daytona 24 hour race StopTech AeroRotors® went the full 24 hours on #10 Genesis Racing BMW M3 enabling the team to finish a position higher by avoiding a rotor change.

StopTech’s unique directional patented vane design of its two-piece floating AeroRotors®, minimizes turbulence, and improves induced airflow through the rotor, keeping brakes cooler, and working more efficiently. Extensive computer-based airflow testing, both in StopTech's lab and on the track, confirmed the success of the new design, yielding airflow increases of up to 80% over original equipment rotors, and 10-30% over other racing rotors. AeroRotors feature a unique metallurgy that extends rotor life and minimizes cracking.

StopTech's two-piece AeroRotors® feature unique patent-pending directional aluminum hats, which increase airflow to the outer faces of the rotors. This improves brake performance, with much less heat stress on the rotors, reducing cracking under aggressive driving conditions and extending outer pad life.

Standard 48-vane AeroRotors® are available in 282 x 25mm, 328 x 28mm,330x 32, 332 x 32mm, 355 x 32mm, 380 x 32mm, and 380 x 35mm formats, with a choice of standard, drilled, or slotted finish. All AeroRotors® feature an industry-standard ten-bolt mounting flange for easy interchangeability.
