Torrance, Calif--Four cars running StopTech brake systems placed in the top 10 during the World Challenge races at Sears Point (Infineon Raceway) this past weekend. Three cars in the Touring class and one car in the GT class battled hard to earn their top 10 spots in the most competitive production-based racing series in the U.S.

Roger Foo, in his #88 Mazda Protégé, had moved up three positions to 5th place and was running strong when he unexpectedly lost his 3rd gear. Foo still managed to finish the race 7th. “I wanted to finish higher, but just finishing the race felt good,” said Foo. Unable to use 3rd gear, late braking was critical to maintaining his position and gaining ground. “StopTech’s give me the confidence to pass anyone under braking. The brake pedal is firm and there is no fade.” Foo has had four top 10 finishes this year and is now 3rd in the overall Touring point standings.

Robert Baxter held on to the 8th spot just behind his teammate despite having clutch failure midway through the race in his #86 Mazda Protégé. "Since my clutch was slipping I was probably the only driver who had to use 5th gear down the straight away,” said Baxter. “Throughout the race I was hitting my marks and when the right opportunity came I was able to pass some faster cars.” He added, “The StopTech’s held up really well and were consistent throughout the race. I was able to make most of my passes under braking.”

Matt Richmond in his Bimmerworld #37 BMW 328i had a big weekend earning his first top 10 finish of the year. Richmond is the most recent driver to join the dozen cars running the StopTech brake system in the World Challenge series. “I didn’t think the big brake kit would make a big difference, but I was able to brake twice as deep with the StopTech system,” said Richmond. “I had no more mental blocks about going farther and farther into turns and was able to make more passes under braking than my previous brake system.” Richmond finished the race 9th.

David Farmer finished in the top10 for the third consecutive race in his yellow #35 Corvette Z06. “The car handled well,” said Farmer, who never gave up a position during the race. “I was able to make a number of key passes under braking, including a Porsche 911. The brakes worked great all weekend and were trouble-free. We didn’t even need to bleed them!” He finished the race 7th right on the tail of an Audi RS6. Farmer is 8th overall in the GT point standings.
