Torrance, Calif-- StopTech LLC has signed a deal with SCCA Pro Racing® to become a sponsor of the Speed World Challenge®.  Touring Car and Grand Touring race teams using StopTech Balanced Brake Upgrades™ are eligible to earn extra prize money based on finishing position.  StopTech has developed special 322mm AeroRotors® to be used for the Touring Car class while the 355mm AeroRotors®  are legal in the GT class.  These special racing kits use the same floating 7075 T6 billet Aluminum directional hats, front DOT compliant stainless steel brake lines and four piston ST40 calipers with racing brake pads. 

“Speed World Challenge® is a perfect match for us,” states Bob Lee, StopTech General Manager.  “Since the cars are production based, we find that our existing Balanced Big Brake Upgrades™ are a direct bolt-on with a legal sized rotor and are competitive right out of the box.”   Bob also adds, “We are excited to be involved with SCCA and the Speed World Challenge® and look forward to seeing some of our teams make the podium this year.”

The two-piece StopTech AeroRotor® assembly includes a floating hat system that resists coning during heating and cooling cycles. The patent pending directional hats induces more airflow over the outer surface of the rotors, providing additional cooling, improving overall system performance, and extending pad life, all very important issues in the racing environment.  The ST40 Caliper features a patented bridge that makes the caliper up to two times stiffer than similar designs to improve pedal feel as well as improve brake-torque reaction.

The Speed World Challenge® kicks off the 2003 season on March 14 in Sebring, Florida.  The StopTech equipped Corvette of David Farmer won the 2002 Mosport Speed World Challenge GT race (see related press release.)
