Thispast Saturday, September 10, 2011, the 7th Annual Japanese Classic Car Show was held atthe Queen Mary Harbor in Long Beach, California. Hundreds of beautifully restoredand well kept Japanese vehicles from the 1960s through the '80s were on display, amid dozens of sponsor and vendor tents.
Thiswas the first time that our friends from Bisimoto Engineering attended, and they sent us their account of things and a few photos to share with all of you.
There were hugedisplays by OE manufacturers like Toyota, Mazda and Nissan, as well as booths by American Honda, Norm Reeves Honda, AEM, Arias Pistons, Fastbrakes, and Hasport. One of the Los Angeles area's top Honda dealers, Norm Reeves Honda, featured one of the Bisimoto cars in its booth. It was a seemingly fairly stock mid-'80s Honda Civic Wagon. Other than a large front air dam and some white wheels, it looks like just about any Civic Wagon of the era.
As we have come to expect from Bisimoto, though, there is a lot more than meets the eye going on. This particular wagon has actually had more than a little bit of work done to it, with the result that it now puts down a whopping 724 horsepower to the wheels! Gulp. Needless to say, it was a hit at the show with its combination of old school looks, modern power,and miraculous reliability. People were in awe that such apowerful vehicle is street driven often…to and from events as well. Count us among those who are in awe of this super sleeper.
