Team StopTech's Jack Baldwin is hanging strong in the 2015 Pirelli World Challenge championship points standings following the conclusion of GTS Rounds 13 and 14 at Miller Motorsports Park.
Although the high altitude level of Toole, UT lends some advantages to their turbo-charged competitors, Jack's team entered the weekend with high hopes of success as the 24-turn circuit somewhat favors the Porsche Cayman S.
Baldwin wasted no time getting out front and threw down an impressive qualifying time for third place on the starting grid behind two turbo-charged competitors. The 50-minute race was hard fought and came down to a drag race to the stripe where Baldwin finished in second position. His efforts placed his GTSport Racing /StopTech Cayman S fifth on the starting grid for Round 14. Executing a fantastic standing start, Baldwin rocketed to second place where he fought hard despite a clear lack of straight line speed. The race ended in a drag race to the line where he missed the podium by a mere fourteen-thousands of a second to claim fourth place.
"Overall, we had a great weekend. I entered the weekend fifth in points and about a hundred points out of first. Now I am still in fifth but only 46 points out of the lead. We're heading to two Porsche tracks where I know we can execute at the highest level. I am proud of the team, I am happy with the weekend but we want to win in Sonoma and that is what we're prepared to do."
