GTSport Racing Leads Team StopTech to COTA for World Challenge Double-Header

(Industry, Calif. - May 16, 2013- GTSport Racing and the rest of "Team StopTech" are heading to Texas to compete at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Rounds 4 & 5 of the Pirelli World Challenge Championships May 18-19. As always, StopTech will be well represented as not only the Official Brake Upgrade of the series, but also as a sponsor of the GTS-class-leading GTSport Racing team.

Jack Baldwin (Car #73) leads the team, which also features Buz McCall (#72), and newly added this weekend, a third car driven by veteran racer Tomy Drissi. StopTech Director of Engineering, Steve Ruiz, also serves as Head Engineer for the team.

This weekend's Pirelli World Challenge event will be another double-header, representing Rounds 4 & 5 for the GT and GTS classes. GTSport Racing/Goldcrest Motorsports and the Foametix/StopTech/Motul Porsche Cayman S trio heads to Circuit of The Americas in search of more podium results.  Buz McCall in the no. 72 and Jack Baldwin in no. 73 each have decades of experience racing in multiple professional series. Baldwin is currently leading in the GTS championship driver points heading into the weekend in Austin.

GTSport Racing is coming off three consecutive street course podium finishes; double-header wins in St. Petersburg, and a 3rd place podium finish in Long Beach. Circuit of The Americas will be a demanding course, showcasing a variety of new corners and elevations.

"It was great to finally get on track today," said Baldwin. "We worked hard and dialed the cars in as we learned the track. We were happy to have P3 at the end of the day, we'll have a really great car for the race!"

Pirelli World Challenge will be using the two-mile "short course" configuration that has drivers going through a track cut from the middle of the "S" corners and over to the back straight.  “It’s a new, smooth, fast, very technical track, but should reward us with the Cayman S being a mid-engine sports car with excellent brakes,” said Steve Ruiz, Head Engineer. “We should be best prepared to take advantage of the track.”

With 4 successful decades of racing to his credit, including IROC, (the invitational International Race of Champions), multiple wins at the 12 hours of Sebring and the Daytona 24 Hours, Jack Baldwin’s experience leads him to feel confident about learning the new track quickly.  Jack’s enthusiasm for the GTS series comes after driving all types of race cars to win 5 professional Championships and 30 major pro races at virtually every other major road course.

Buz McCall has victories in IMSA, NASCAR and Trans Am throughout over 30 professional races and as Team Owner of American Equipment Racing, won more races than any other team between 1991-1996, fielding fan favorite cars still recognizable today.  He began driving for GTSport Racing this year and is in his first season with the team.

Also heading to Circuit of The Americas is sports car driver Tomy Drissi in the TruSpeed Porsche 911 GT3 RS who has teamed up with GTSport Racing/Goldcrest Motorsports to maintain the car for the double-header weekend.

You can watch GTSport Racing at the Circuit of The Americas on the NBC Sports Network broadcast, Sunday June 16th at 5PM eastern. A live feed will be available during the weekend as well as replays on www.world-challengeTV.com.
